3.5 stars - I liked this book a lot, but the dynamic between JJ & Brooke was a little awkward at times. Like, JJ kept saying Brooke ruined his life but like whaaa? How? No explanation for the dramatics.
JJ and Brooke made quite an interesting pairing. Brooke was so hardened due to being a successful woman in a man's world and caring for a sick parent. She was beginning to wilt under the weight of keeping her father's health issues a secret, and while looking for a "release" hooks up with JJ. As the frequency of the trysts increased, it was easy to see these two falling for each other. As they fell deeper and deeper into one another, they began to open up, and I could see something real forming right before my eyes. I found I began to like Brooke a lot more, and I loved her and JJ together.
This book was fun and sexy and it hit some emotional notes as well. Canterbary threw an interesting surprise in there, but I ended up loving it, and found myself in a state of elations at the end of the book.
