God what a bad book.
For the love of god stop taking sensitive topic like child molestation if you have nothing meaningful or important to add to it. Also I found the interjection of magical realism and fairy tales detracted from the story itself which was pretty thin to begin with.

And my god the writing, not everything has to be poetic, Rene. I get it you want every moment to 'the one' but 6 year olds don't perceive so comprehensively. There were a couple of times I found myself saying 'really???'
For example: “Naomi felt something deeper than crying, a flush in her womb.” Honestly, who the fuck talks like that?

Overall, skip this one. I got manipulated by the glowing reviews and that gorgeous cover but don't let yourself be fooled by it.
