This book offers a new look at the formation and weaknesses of the Argentine working classes. In the long span from 1870 to 1930 Argentina went through massive changes. The development of the working classes shaped the direction of those changes by promoting democratization and pushing for economic redistribution. By 1930, workers developed unique strategies of solidarity and combativeness. But they were unable to overcome the divisions to create an independent social and political movement.
