Steel is just a badass, I know I have said it before but are we sure he’s not a machine sent from the future? He is just unstoppable. He is out to make sure he gets justice and if he inspires a bit of fear along the way so be it. Although, I think he enjoys inflicting the idea of pain just a bit too much!
McCall and Steel catch a case where 3 men have escaped a prison truck on their way to their own court hearing. Then dead bodies turn up, in such a gruesome way, coincidence?
I love the banter between McCall and Steel, there is a will they/won’t they, but it’s not the front runner. They are an excellent team and know how to work with each other. Steel, as I say, terminator, always knows where the right place to be is, and ok he could do a bit more “teamwork” but it is exciting to see him kick ass on his own. Plus who could not love Steel’s “office.” The thing that is awesome about these books is that we still do not know the complete history with Steel and the ending of this book has thrown a huge spanner into the mix for sure. Things are about to hit hard for Steel and they will be deep cuts for sure. Is it wrong to say I am excited about what is going to happen?
We have a couple of storylines hitting us in this book, dead bodies, escapees, a stalker and more people hidden in the shadows. All make for an explosive read! This is the 3rd book, whereas it could be read on its own, there are things alluded to from book 1 and 2, so best to follow the story (especially as I am going to need to re-read book 1!)
Stuart’s writing is getting stronger with each book. He has the action to a tee, he knows how to get the readers engaged with this one-man army. You care for the team and you are urging them to get the results especially as we can not see how it will all figure out. We are kept in the dark like McCall until Detective John Steel decides it is time to let us. As I said my favourite one yet, it has everything to satisfy the yippee ki-yay in me!
