The Pride series is a real fun series, especially when you want yummy alpha-males; literally. Everyone in these books are shifters, and they usually deal with mixing breeds or crossing the bridges of enemy families. through love, so if that's a theme you love as much as I do, definitely check it out.
It also deals with all kind of dysfunctional families; some filled with love, some with hatred, but dysfunctional nonetheless.
I really enjoyed Bo and Blayne, though I admit it took me time to get into their story. I liked her and her craziness and deceptiveness, and I liked him and his OCD (he's also a time-freak, which is like a neat-freak, only... with time). Quite frankly, I found Bo to be adorable, and I loved watching him slightly change due to Blayne and her influence.

I felt like the romance was well done and they complimented each other's personality very well. They fit like a key to a lock; very different in terms of look, purposes and personalities on their own but only whole together.

She seems to give her characters certain characteristics of their animal counterparts. Bo is part polar bear/part lion. He is a multimillion dollar hockey player who is killer on the ice, but is not much of a team player. It's his puck and he'll hurt anyone who gets between him and his puck, even is own teammates. He likes to be alone, like his inner polar bear, and is obsessed with schedules and time management.
Bring in Blayne who is half wolf/half wild dog, and so flighty you can almost hear someone yelling "squirrel" and off she goes. She is frustrating to Bo since she doesn't respect schedules and wears a broken watch because it looks nice and she is the Oscar Madison to his Felix Unger. But when he is not frustrated by her lack of respect for his rigid schedules, he appreciates that flightiness in her that makes her beloved by her friends. She wins over his whole hometown, a town full of grumpy bears, within a few days.
Except for the sometimes horrible names she gives her characters, I know I can always pick up a Shelly Laurenston book and get swept by the likable characters (even the grumpy ones) and the action filled story.
