The Basics:
Fire in His Embrace is the third book in the series and is a direct follow-up to Fire in His Kiss. The first few chapters do happen prior to the previous book, and then it catches up to where we left off. However, the final scenes are skipped over, so you should read the previous book to fill in all of the gaps. This book follows Emma as she rescues Zohr and gets claimed as his mate.
My Thoughts:
I do believe this series has found its groove now! Fire in His Embrace had me hooked from beginning until the very end and well into both epilogues! A larger plot has been established which makes this world and the romance that much more addicting. We met Emma last time and know that she's a woman surviving on her own, at least until this band of nomads needs to use her as dragon bait. She feels guilty for the role she played in Zohr's capture, so she does whatever it takes to free him.
The sex in Fire in His Embrace was interesting. Emma and Zohr's first time was definitely unusual, as this was the first step in her plan. She's the first heroine who knew that she'd need a mate bond in order to communicate with him, so she just went for it! After that, they do continue to have sex while hiding out, but Emma is not some sex goddess. She was a nineteen year old virgin and she's worrying that she's doing something wrong because she doesn't orgasm easily. The author is always very good at focusing on the women's pleasure, so this was a nice touch. Zohr had to work a little harder to make sure his mate was completely satisfied. No shame in that!
As for the plot, I couldn't get enough! There's so many added details in Fire in His Embrace to expand this world and work an interesting plot into it. We met the villain, Azar last time, and he seriously is cruel. There's more peeks into the dragons' homeworld and they start to suspect that something else is going on in regards to their memories. Perhaps it's not just the trauma of being thrust into this new world. I am intrigued!
I also loved the epilogues! There seemed to be set up for two more books! Amy, Claudia's sister, finally comes out of hiding. It's obvious that she would need to eventually in order to catch her mate, but I wasn't expecting this! Then we're reunited with Doctor Melina, and I could not believe who she's healing! What?! Are they going to be a couple! I didn't see a book for them, but WTF?!
Clearly, I thoroughly enjoyed Fire in His Embrace. The series got off to a slow start, but now I'm in it for the long haul.
