Proceed With Caution:
This book contains mentions of rape.
The Basics:
Fire in Her Eyes picks up soon after the events of Fire in His Veins. Gabe has found his place in Fort Shreveport, but that also means his lady dragon friend is constantly swooping overhead. He feels responsible for putting the people in danger, so he decides to take off for a few days to lure her away and possibly connect with his mystery lady.
My Thoughts:
Fire in Her Eyes was so freaking cute, which was definitely needed after the intensity of the previous book. Gabe's mission that takes him away from the fort? He's bringing back the missing cats for old Charlie! Yes, he's also trying to get Teva away from the fort, and probably bring back some supplies, but his main goal is to wrangle up the cats and bring them home. Adorable.
Gabe also manages to wrangle up Teva! It's confirmed that she is following his scent, so he comes up with a pretty genius plan to "conquer" her. Obviously, being human he's nowhere near as physically strong as her, so he has to use his wits to get his dragon mate to submit. This whole situation was just fun, and Teva's responses to him just made me smile. It's not all sunshine and rainbows though. They have some fundamental issues to work through before they're completely bonded, but it was a fun ride.
Fire in Her Eyes was really short compared to the other books in the series, which was kind of nice. It was very quick to get through, and it never dragged. That's not to say that I had enough of Gabe and Teva, because I didn't! I absolutely adored them, but adding more would have felt like filler. I'm never getting the image of a dragon woman wearing a wedding dress out of my mind!
