There is nothing new under the sun.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book! When I read about Anne, it caused me to reflect. Though written over 100 years ago, her thoughts and personality are still the same as any young lady transitioning from girlhood to womanhood. How interesting to see the things I mused over thought by a character written long ago! That's the beauty of L.M. Montgomery's writing--it doesn't go out of style.

If you want a story with timeless joy and simplicity, pick this one up.

In Anne of Avonlea, we get to see her become a school teacher and really grow up.
She's not only taking care of the farm alongside Marilla, but also helping raise twins whose parents died.
It's a lot for anybody to handle, but Anne does it all while keeping true to herself.
She even helps out a local boy, who feels lonely.

It's classic Anne and I loved this book.

Once again, Montgomery told a lovely, hearty story. I enjoyed the pacing, though the blurb implied Anne would've interacted with Gilbert more—I always want to read more of their interactions! Ugh.

I did feel uncomfortable upon her breaking of the fourth wall—addressing me, the reader, is a weird thing lest it's done from the beginning or for, say, humorous efforts—but such may only work better on television? It's so rare it felt out of place and reminded me this was fiction, which I read for an escape.
