Coffee Dates with Maverick:

First Date: After two concussions, Bodey is lying low for the summer. Which for him means no daredevil tricks like riding broncos, skydiving and ATVS. Instead, he is taking part in a shooting competition, complete with period dress, shops, food stands and prizes. We meet Beth Tivoli, a quiet, guarded young woman who is not at all interested in Bodey. Alright, she is very interested, but she has enough trouble keeping her past from finding her. Right away, I enjoyed the connection between these two and needed to know what has Beth spooked. We get to enjoy some banter, and I loved when Beth surprised Bodey.
Second Date: Brigham weaves in a nice touch of suspense with Beth’s secret and it enhanced my enjoyment and kept me flipping the pages. We get to see a slow building romance develop between Bodey and Beth. It is the kind of budding romance with awkward moments and knocks your socks off kisses. I am all in and feeling giddy.
Third date: A Dog and Beth’s secret will melt your heart. Bodey’s fall was fantastic, and the telling of it had me in stitches even as I occasionally wiped a tear over tender moments with an absolute cutie. The suspense escalated as we move towards its climactic conclusion. Brigham did an excellent job of balancing the threads and weaving them into a realistic tale. I admired both characters, and their romance felt genuine. A delightful epilogue left me grinning like a lovesick fool.
