I really enjoyed getting to know Poppy in this book. We didn't get to learn a lot about any of her other sisters, since Poppy was sent to another kingdom by herself. But the characters we did get to meet I quite enjoyed.

All except Eleanor. She was entirely disagreeable and I kept hoping she would fail and not end up with any boy at the end of the book. Once we found out why she was such a horrible person, it made a lot more sense for her to act that way. But by that point in the book, I just couldn't like her at all.

Poppy's feelings about dancing and being separated from her sisters (especially her twin Daisy!), were very believable. I liked that she didn't just brush off what happened to her in the previous book. She had nightmares, was afraid at times, and just her whole outlook on dancing in general worked for me. I also liked Christian, Marianne, and Lord Seadown. I especially liked the twist with Lord Seadown, and how Poppy was able to talk to him about magic and curses without him thinking she was an evil witch.

This was a very fast read, with a few interesting twists. The end wrapped up a little too easily compared to the previous book, but it still worked for the most part.

This is a unique and imaginative turn on the Cinderella story. I enjoy that [a:Jessica Day George|359109|Jessica Day George|http://photo.goodreads.com/authors/1299045947p2/359109.jpg] used one of the princesses from [b:Princess of the Midnight Ball|3697927|Princess of the Midnight Ball (Princess #1)|Jessica Day George|http://photo.goodreads.com/books/1312024989s/3697927.jpg|3741438] to create a small world where these stories intersect. I'd love to read more about Ionia and the stories of different princes and princesses within it.

Though the characters are, perhaps, less realized in [b:Princess of Glass|7199667|Princess of Glass (Princess #2)|Jessica Day George|http://photo.goodreads.com/books/1312002471s/7199667.jpg|7867989] the story is sweet and simple and fun. I didn't want more plot, just a little more depth. I didn't feel I knew Christian as well as I knew Galen in [b:Princess of the Midnight Ball|3697927|Princess of the Midnight Ball (Princess #1)|Jessica Day George|http://photo.goodreads.com/books/1312024989s/3697927.jpg|3741438] and his enchantment didn't help because he lost so much of his own will in it. I would have like more resolution/aftermath at the end, but what it has is satisfying and I really liked the way so many of the characters stories intersected.

I love Jessica's stories. There hasn't been one of her books that I have not liked. I give her the title first of a fantastic storyteller, then a writer. Anyone can write, but not everyone can tell a good story.

My favorite part about this book is the main character Poppy. I love her spirit, determination and intelligence. Her background dealing with black magic, comes in handy while figuring out the mystery to Ellen's transformation.

I also really liked the twist on this retelling of Cinderella. I have been very bored with many of the retellings up to this point. Having the "Cinderella" be Ellen,"Eleanora", another character in the story, this was a good thing for me. It fit her gullible and fragile personality better. You can understand why she would have fallen prey to an evil source such as the Corley.

I wish that there had been more romance between Poppy and Christian at the end. I felt like things were just getting started between the two of them. My favorite male character in this story was Roger. He was a well rounded character showing more personality and wisdom. I almost wanted to see Poppy and Roger end up together.

As others have said, my favorite JDG book is still "Sun and Moon, Ice and Snow". It sits there among my top 10 favorite books
