I really enjoyed getting to know Poppy in this book. We didn't get to learn a lot about any of her other sisters, since Poppy was sent to another kingdom by herself. But the characters we did get to meet I quite enjoyed.
All except Eleanor. She was entirely disagreeable and I kept hoping she would fail and not end up with any boy at the end of the book. Once we found out why she was such a horrible person, it made a lot more sense for her to act that way. But by that point in the book, I just couldn't like her at all.
Poppy's feelings about dancing and being separated from her sisters (especially her twin Daisy!), were very believable. I liked that she didn't just brush off what happened to her in the previous book. She had nightmares, was afraid at times, and just her whole outlook on dancing in general worked for me. I also liked Christian, Marianne, and Lord Seadown. I especially liked the twist with Lord Seadown, and how Poppy was able to talk to him about magic and curses without him thinking she was an evil witch.
This was a very fast read, with a few interesting twists. The end wrapped up a little too easily compared to the previous book, but it still worked for the most part.
