The characters pulled me in very quickly and by the end of the novel I was full vested and rooting for them to be together. Devyn Mauvais was down on her luck and still nursing a heart bruised after being left abruptly by her high school sweetheart. Beau Dumont is back in town and ready to make amends after leaving Devyn to join the Marines. Devyn was so funny I could easily identify with her. I loved that she was so down to earth and had no pretense about her. I loved that Beau put his heart on the line and went out of his way to make sure that Devyn knew she would be secure with him. He left no stone unturned to make up for his past behavior. I absolutely adored that about him. He wasn’t afraid to make himself vulnerable to give her what she needed. I really felt like I was right there with them as they revived their relationship.
The storyline was filled with rich details and Southern charm. There was certainly a lot of chemistry between Devyn and Beau. There were numerous white hot scenes between the two of them in a variety of places. There were plenty of twists and turns that kept me glued to the pages. I took the book to work with me so I could finish it. I had to make sure they made it through the curse.
I have read books by this author previously, and I felt like this book was one of her best. From start to finish you will cry, laugh, and cheer them on to a happy ending.
