Dallas hates football and football players. Her life has been ruled by the game. Her father is a well-known coach is likes to fix broken programs and move on. The latest challenge for him is Rusk University, where her ex-boyfriend is the current QB.
Carson loves the game and needs it to help him finance his college education. He is a walk-on who needs to stay focused and work hard in order to earn a scholarship.
Their worlds collide at a party one night and although they try to fight it, they cannot help but fall for one another.
This was a fun, sweet romance. I really liked Carson a lot. He acted like a man, not a boy, when it came to Dallas. Dallas was one person at the beginning of the story and a better person at the end. She did a lot of searching and self exploration and resolved to "fix" herself. There are a lot of fun supporting cast of characters and I almost thought I was in a episode of Friday Night Lights every time the Coach gave a pep talk. Go RU!

Like all of her books, this was great! But, it was over too soon! I couldn't believe I was at the Epilogue already. If you liked her other books, you like this one too. And if you haven't read her other ones, go read them as well!

Ever since I was in high school, I loved football. My love for football started with the movie Facing The Giants--it's what got me into the world of football. I never had a specific team I would root for because in Puerto Rico we don't have football teams, sadly.
All Lined Up is the first book I have read from Cora Carmack and now I want all of her books (which I will buy tomorrow because I won $25 Amazon Gift Card while at the Pep Rally for All Broke Down) :D
I have to say I am frustrated with Dallas. I was getting antsy of when she would tell her dad she wanted to date Carson and she would do dancing because it was what she wanted. I'm not a patient person so waiting for that to happen had me on edge.
Meeting Carson was definitely refreshing. He is a very sweet and hot guy with goals ahead of him. He pushes himself to be better at football and he tries to be a good student and get good grades. When he meets Dallas, he meets his distraction. I'd like to believe that Dallas was Carson's breath of fresh air. Like he stated in the book, Dallas is the one that pulls him together and I believe that. The reader gets to experience how, for her, he does his best and is trying to be there for her whenever she needs it, even when she pushes him away.
Dallas and Carson's story had a semi-rocky start. Their love wasn't forbidden, but it was hard for Dallas to date a football player, especially one that was on her dad's coaching team. Eventually, she let go of her fears and took a leap of faith. I am glad that everything worked out and Dallas and Carson got their happy ending, along with Dallas relationship with her dad.
If you aren't into sports or into football, give this story a chance. It will change your mind. I know it got me hooked on football again--it might hook you up too :)

Sweet Romance- √ Low drama- √ Great characters √. Cora Carmack’s new Rusk University series begins with All Lined Up and you are going to want to add it to your TBR pile. Carmack delivers a refreshing new adult novel without the stereotypical characters we usually find. Instead, it offers two sweet, level-headed characters in a delightful coming of age tale with romantic moments to make you swoon and giggle.
The formula for new adult has been bad boys, wild nights and drama. Carmack brings the reader characters who take college seriously and it was delightful. They are focused on their dreams, and pleasing their parents. In the midst of finding themselves they find something more and it was a joy to watch it unfold.
Dallas Cole has grown up on football. Her single Dad is a coach and despite wanting to pursue dance in New York, she finds herself attending the college where her Dad is the new head coach. To make matters worse, her high school (ex)boyfriend is now the lead quarterback. When she reluctantly attends a fraternity party with her best friend, circumstances have her falling into the arms of Carson McCain. The two instantly connect, and the banter between them is delicious. Dallas is not ready for a relationship, especially with her Dad in such close proximity. Carson the second string quarterback needs to focus on school and the game. The two decide to be friends and the tale that unfolds is delightful.
All Lined Up offered a slow building romance that was heavy on sweet tender moments with just enough heat to curl your toes. The tale focuses on self-discovery, pushing yourself towards goals and mending parental relationships. There are a couple of side stories woven into the tale adding some realistic drama, and giving depth to the characters. I connected with both Dallas and Carson. Their relationship developed slowly with awkward moments, laughter and that dance we all love when the atmosphere crackles with attraction. We witness growth in the characters and get to cheer them. While college and football go hand and hand, do not shy away from this if football is not your thing. The book has powerful messages of inspiration, and the game is a backdrop to our characters.
All Lined Up was a refreshing tale and an easy transition for those who like young adult contemporaries, but have avoided the bad boys and drama ladened new adult genre. All Broke Down is the next book in this Texas set series and will release in October of 2014. In the back of the book Carmack talks about growing up in Texas, football and her Dad making the tale even sweeter.

Cora Carmack has quickly become one of my favourite New Adult authors! She writes and releases books so quickly, that it’s such a treat to be able to read multiple Cora Carmack books a year! Her Losing It series was fantastic, so as soon as it was announced she was writing a new book series, set in Texas, and all about football I was quite excited. I nearly died when I saw it up for review on Edelweiss, and I, of course, downloaded it immediately! I was quite excited to get stuck in, to read more of Carmack’s amazing writing, and to meet her new cast of characters! I was quite excited to dive headfirst into All Lined Up and it’s a really good start to her new book series!
I have to be honest, I’m British therefore American football is not my forte. Not my cup of tea. It makes ZERO sense to me. I much prefer British football (to the American readers that’s soccer). So, I was a bit concerned to begin a new series set in a state where it’s said, “In Texas, two things are cherished above all else – football and gossip.” So that very much sets the tone for the novel and there is a lot of football tales and stuff, and because I didn’t understand it, most of it went over my head, although I liked the enthusiasm of the football games, the love for the game was apparent, it’s just something I know nothing about. I’ve tried watching a Super Bowl or two, and I just don’t get the appeal. It just seems overly complicated, with plays and downs and stuff, but I enjoyed learning a bit more about something I’m mostly ignorant to and perhaps if I was American and had been born on the other side of the Atlantic I might understand all the love!
The good news is, is the novel isn’t all about football, and it is, in fact, about Dallas and Carson, who meet in the best way possible: When Dallas screams at a party, on a balcony. AMAZING. I admire anyone who can make their feelings known like that in a public setting. I’m way too self-conscious to scream like that in public and I loved Dallas immediately for doing that. It was like insta-love. I then LOVED that Dallas threw herself off the balcony (it was one floor, not dramatic) and pretty much landed on top of Carson. They had like the best meeting, ever. They sort of instantly click with each other, and it was very quick, but it didn’t at all seem forced; in fact, it seemed perfect. I wasn’t entirely sure where the angst was going to come from – because they just seemed like the perfect match with each other, but as the novel wore on and as their respective issues came out I began to see that it wouldn’t always be plain sailing from these two. Right after their first meeting, which was explosive, there were issues. I enjoyed seeing Carson’s life as a footballer, or a wannabe footballer, and I was rooting for him all the way to get that starting QB position. What I loved best about Dallas was whenever she was dancing, or thinking about dance. It was very much her saving grace, and I’m always envious of people who can dance, it’s one talent I would love to be able to do.
Dallas was very much a character I loved and envied, and I immediately adored Carson (can I have one of my own? Where in the world does Cora Carmack get the inspiration for her boy characters? Maaaan.), I just felt in the middle of the novel, just when it was all going great between Dallas and Carson, there was a bit of a non-issue that rocked their boat, their happy boat. It was hard to go from their cuteness hanging out at Carson’s house to what came at the party a little bit later. I still didn’t entirely get that bit. I wanted Dallas and Carson to always be happy, to spend their days whiling away in Carson’s apartment because I felt that they were happiest then, just chilling, watching movies, getting to know each other. I very much enjoyed getting to know Dallas and Carson and Cormack’s writing is as solid as ever. All Lined Up is a fantastic opening to a new series, and I can’t wait for the next book!
