46%. That’s when the heroine finally started piecing it all together and then made a really stupid choice instead of the obvious choice she should have made hours before.
67%. That’s when she made another really stupid choice when the obvious answer was literally lying at her feet.
Really, this wasn’t a terrible book and I like the characters well enough. But there’s a lot of repetition - of the previous book and of events in this book. The former is understandable to an extent (like once in case I didn’t read the first book - not so much two or three times, like I get it already). The latter is annoying - I was there, I know what happened. I don’t need the heroine to ruminate over it a couple of times to remind me why she’s feeling unreasonably guilty.
Also, it’s full of false stakes. Alexa is always afraid that no matter what she does everyone is going to die when as a reader I can very clearly see the path through where no one dies. So I don’t believe all her angst. And I wish Marcel was around to be the smart one, because she needs it. Like why waste time killing 3 guys with arrows when you could have shot Rafe 3 times and ended the whole thing likity split.
