I was on a deadline. Hair, makeup and outfit needed to be sorted with a departure time of 1:30 pm. I was on track (sort of) but I knew that coffee would need to be consumed before I left. I don't know about you but I prefer to drink my coffee doing something fun. So, 12:30 pm arrived, coffee in my hand, I decided to listen to Dating-ish while I drank my coffee. It was just meant to be for 10 minutes. Well, my deadline went to hell in a handbasket. 1:00 pm and I still needed to have a shower...but I was down. Like, shocked, discombobulated and devastated. The 50% mark, and I was shattered.
I had to socialise, act happy and be effervescent when my book world was in an uproar and my heart was broken. I eventually bucked up after a few glasses of champers, but it was touch and go for a while there. I even contemplated an earpiece to subtly keep listening. Luckily, I regained my senses...sort of.
I think the Knitting in the City series is perfect for audio. I never struggle to stay focused and I'm captivated from start to finish. Dating-ish was a fascinating study into feelings, emotions and robotics. Can artificial intelligence replace human connection? Are we able to receive the right affection and connection from something that says the right thing every time? Is it a good thing to be satisfied with your wants and desires all the time? You can't help but question what we all accept as the right way? Maybe it is time to find alternative ways to gain satisfaction and connection?
Again, I was overwhelmed with emotions while listening to Dating-ish. Penny Reid writes amazing and original characters that you can't help but love.
The narrator does a fantastic job, but I admit that some of the accents were a bit annoying.
I love Penny Reid's love stories. While the characters are original, quirky and different they're also relatable. I like them and enjoy reading about their love and adventures.
This was definitely a slow burn romance but when we got to the juicy parts they were HOT!!
Loved Dating-ish so much that I'm going back to the beginning and trying out the narrated version for the previous ones I have read.
