I had very high expectations for Deacon - and apart from something that happened (and that made me really mad!) towards the end, I loved this story. Deacon was an enigma from when I first met him, and I just knew he'd be great once he got out from under all the ice he'd encased himself in. And Cassidy was an awesome heroine - I loved everything about her.
2.5 stars I don't really know what to say here. I had high hopes for this one. I mean, this series is supposed to be edgy and full of conflict and for the first 70-80% of this one, there was none to really speak of. (I mean, a guy got pissed about some towels and some other cabin guest drama ensued) Lots of hot sex and development of their relationship, other wise it was almost boring. When the big conflict happened, I thought ok, "here we go" and then the resolution of the conflict? I was like...what? That's it? And then some other stuff happened and I don't know..... I've never thought of this series as boring....ever. (It sure did put me a Kings of Leon listening mood)
Did I like it? Sure, it was KA and I usually enjoy it to some extent but I expected more.
It's like that feeling you get when you stand in front of your full wardrobe and complain of nothing to wear. I have heaps of books to read, an Audible membership that gives me discounts, even a credit to satisfy an impulse. So, what do I pick? A good old KA of course.
It's been yonky donks since I read or listened to Deacon. To be honest, I think this was my first listen, but I can't say that for certain because I have a shocking memory. I'm so glad I gave into the impulse though. I forgot how much I loved this one.
Unlike the other Unfinished Heroes, I felt like Deacon was the most...hero...ish?!?! I don't mean donning a cape and acting all heroic (which I'm sure he's quite capable of). I mean that he is the kind of book hero that I'd happily nominate for book hero of the year. Don't get me wrong, he's far from perfect and leaves Cassie for too long "protecting her from him", but, Oh, the words he says...
This man he has some MOVES!! This man has some WORDS!! Both his moves and his words are SEXY AND HOT!! There are some kinky scenes which I enjoyed but I admit to being surprised where KA went. Well, surprised the first time I read it. This time, and considering the Honey series, I guess not so surprising and more a confirmation that KA's a little kinky. 😉
Deacon is also sweet, caring, possessive and bossy. Sure, he was a twit for a bit, but I forgave him...and he brings cute puppies.
Loved my re-read/listen and now it will be hard to pick anything other than another KA audio. But, which one??? Heaven and Hell or maybe Play it Safe? Decisions...decisions...

Loved it
WoW THAT WAS HOT!!!!
That was by far the hottest book that Kristen Ashley has written. Loved the storyline and the characters, loved the epilogue and loved what this book made me feel.
Not sure how I feel about her skimming over Raid and Hanna's conclusion to the dramas, but I'm getting the impression we'll get all the answers in Nick's story.
Loved how the backstory was told and that Cassidy wasn't willing to put up with Deacons crap.
Really enjoyed all of this one and loved that we got to catch up with Daisy. Kristen Ashley thank you for the experience.
