I swear, I was two pages in when I already fell in love with the two main characters. Turns out, Royce and Hadrian wouldn’t be the only part of this book that I’d end up loving.
First of all, this is a rather short novel. We’re talking around 300 pages. While this might not be that short in general, those of you who regularly read fantasy will agree with me that this genre often tends to produce longer books. (Looking at you GRRM)
It was so refreshing not having to go through almost 1000 pages for just one book. And guess what, we’re not missing anything! The worldbuilding is on point there is nothing lacking in description or in depth. I’m normally rather picky and always find something to complain abut, but not with The Crown Conspiracy.
The story is so well-written and the plot unfolds just wonderfully. Will one or two little things might be a tad far-fetched, I am more than willing to forgive any tiny imperfection just based on how amazing everything else is. The story drew me in straight away, it comes with so many twists and turns! You’re never able to predict just where this will go and I love it. The heists Sullivan writes are thrilling and exciting, expertly written.
By the way, Royce and Hadrian are not the only amazing characters in this book. I don’t want to add any spoilers here (and we’ll most likely get into this with the next novels in the series), so let me just assure you, Sullivan’s got so many bases covered. You all have no idea how excited I am to read the next book!
