This was a cute read with some really standout moments. I adored Mia's relationship with her grandmother, and thought that storyline was fantastic. I also really liked her mom and dad, and the support she got from her friends. Ethan also had a wonderful family, and he was so swoony and great with kids. So much to like with him.

The push and pull probably went on a little too long for me, but I still found this book entertaining.

Overall: A lighthearted and fun story with a hero and heroine you can't help but like.

I found out about this book because HarperCollins contacted me to review Rebound for their blog tour. Since it is the second book, I decided to purchase Boomerang and read the series from the beginning.

This story starts with our two MC's, Mia and Ethan waking up together after a night they spent together but have no recollection of. Mia wake up in a hurry because she is late for her new job and it turns out, Ethan is late to his first day on the job as well. They both get in the same cab and when they arrive their destinations, they find out that they will be competing for their job position at Boomerang, an online dating company, since there is only one spot available and there are rules: Relationship between the interns is forbidden. Mia and Ethan try to avoid one another but their attraction is undeniable.

I was expecting to love this book because the premise sounds interesting but it turns out, I only liked it. Do not get me wrong. The story is great, the characters are great, but I just wanted more...excitement and more situations where these two characters had more chances to get together alone. Aside from that, it was an enjoyable story that many will love. The romance was built up slowly, which is something I am liking very much in NA books and pretty much any category. These two characters got to start off as friends and their witty conversations were fun to read about. The friends Mia and Ethan have are amazing. They are fun and loyal and very interesting. The one character that I actually loved but the characters disliked was Cookie. She is very demanding and kind of rude, but she made the story quite fun.

"Get them to me in an hour or I'll have your Puerto Rican ass deported, and no, I don't care if that's impossible. I could find a way and don't you doubt it for one goddamn..."
Crazy Cookie right there. I found this part funny because I am Puerto Rican and still live here.

I am most looking forward to Rebound because the hot-shot boss of Mia and Ethan, Adam Blackwood, gets his story and I'm very excited about this! I still don't know if I will like him with Alison, who is Ethan's ex but I guess we will see.

After reading a couple of heavier books, I wanted something a little bit lighter and with the second Boomerang novel, Rebound, on the horizon, I thought it was time to dig in to the first book and see if this was a series to hop on board on. Boomerang is actually written by two authors, using the pen name of Noelle August, but you couldn’t actually tell and since I’ve read neither author, I can’t even say if it’s similar to their usual stuff. However what I can tell you, is that it is a very fine addition to the New Adult genre. Just when you think you’ve read as many good New Adult books possible, and found enough New Adult authors to tide you over, along comes another to add to the list.

Boomerang is a very forthright New Adult novel, and opens with Mia and Ethan in bed with each other, after what appears to be a one-night stand. Mia is easily one of the most body confident girls I’ve ever had the pleasure to meet and shows no shame in showing Ethan her naked body the morning after (unlike many heroines who would cover themselves up with a sheet or wake up hours earlier to put make up on etc) and right away I knew this was a girl to admire. I’d never be that brave, but I admire anyone who is and Mia certainly knows what she wants, whether it was Ethan or her internship at Boomerang. Trouble is, Ethan also knows what he wants and that also happens to be an internship at Boomerang, and there’s only one spot open at the end of the internship dun dun dun…

I love novels where characters are forced to interact after an awkward encounter, and Mia and Ethan’s original encounter was certainly that, considering neither could remember what had happened (although surely they would have remembered if they’d slept together, or at least I think so). It was also a bit annoying to have Mia and Ethan going for the same spot at Boomerang, not helped by the no-relationships-rule Adam Blackwood had in place, ugh. I just wanted them both to just blurt out their feelings instead of tip-toeing around each other and trying to make the other jealous, that sort of stuff gets old really quick is all. Considering how awesome they were together, I would have loved for them to have just gone for it and to hell with the rules.

Boomerang was a great read. I loved getting to know Mia and Ethan, and the other folks at Boomerang – apparently Adam is the focus on the next book and considering he’s described as the love child of Ryan Gosling and Ryan Gosling, I’m quite excited for THAT one. Although I’m not entirely sure about his love interest, but we’ll see! Any New Adult fan will lap Boomerang up. It’s so refreshingly honest, with two characters I loved and who had the most amazing chemistry (I mean within pages they were riffing off each other back and forth, back and forth). I can’t wait to read more and the team that makes up Noelle August really know what they’re writing, so I hope they continue their partnership even after the trilogy is done!

Although not my usual genre, I have read and enjoyed New Adult books from time to time and Boomerang is no exception. This is a fun, light and humorous read with characters I can relate too.

So what happens when two people hook-up, have differing opinions about what happened the night before, share a taxi ride to their mutual first days as interns, only to find out, they're going to be competing for a job? It's going to be complicated!

Ethan is a recent graduate from UCLA. He wants the job at Boomerang to help clear some students loans so he can apply to law school.
Mia is hoping to graduate soon and become a film-maker. She doesn't have any financial worries because her parents are wealthy and successful in their chosen fields. As an only child of accomplished parents, she wants to achieve her own success, and the internship with Boomerang is a springboard opportunity not to be missed.

Our young protagonists' expectations are crushed when they find out that their internship isn't quite what they expected. Add to that a “no-company dating” rule and we end up with a highly amusing romantic comedy which sizzles. The author does a fabulous job at building the sexual tension between Ethan and Mia as well as convincingly conveying a whole spectrum of emotions that they both have to learn to deal with in the adult world.

Boomerang is refreshing, entertaining and unputdownable. I'm looking forward to reading Rebound, the next installment from this series.
