I found Everland an intriguing way to remake an old story, so I was curious to see how it continued to play out in Umberland. While this one seemed a tad bit more predictable than Everland, it was still quite enjoyable and worth the time to read. It's not very long - shorter than Everland - and moves pretty quickly. It probably *could* be read alone, however I would strongly advise against it, as there are fairly frequent references to the events that occurred in the first book. Overall, it was interesting, though I did not like it as much as the first - and I am quite curious to see how everything moves along in the next book.
