I really enjoyed the format of the book too. This book spans about 45 years, and we are there for all the major and minor experiences. We watch Rosie, Alex, Toby, and Katie grow up. We watch relationships begin, end, and evolve. This all unfolds through emails, letters, cards, and instant messages. Ahern did a great job creating mood and setting without long narratives. The story really moved along too. I think I liked this book, because I could relate to her, as I too, was a young single mom with no dad to help me.
I know many will find the starts and stops of Rosie's life frustrating. I did, but it was because I just wanted her to succeed in every aspect of her life. Overall: LOVED IT!
