I'm very pleased to say that I enjoyed listening to White Knight. I wasn't sure after reading the first instalment as I'm not a huge fan of purposeful deception. I know that undercover stories are all about telling lies, but some do it better than others. In this case, I liked that once the truth came out, the deception and lies were cleared between the hero and heroine.
The pace was good, the storyline was entertaining, and the narrators kept me enthralled from start to finish. There were a few shocks that were revealed by the end and I can honestly say that I hadn't guessed a few of them at all. There was one particular one that was revealed and I would LOVE to know more about her and her "deception and lies" career.
Again, I do think the hero and heroine fell into love too quickly and their dedication and devotion to each other was a little unrealistic. Yes, lives were in danger and emotions were high, but, seriously, they had just met each other and they were thinking forever and ever kind of thoughts.
I find it hard to imagine, without serious and lengthy contemplation, falling in love with someone connected to the mafia. Mind you, I can't even imagine having a simple conversation with someone armed, let alone someone who would use a gun on a person. I could never have done what the heroine did and have lusty thoughts about her target. But, that's why I read/listen to stories like this...to step away from reality.
In the end, the Dirty Mafia Duet was pretty entertaining. The second instalment was definitely better than the first. The narrators do an amazing job bring Meghan March's characters to life and I hope to hear more from this duo in the future.
