1917 Paul was a senior at a large eastern college, a natural leader, it was predicted that he would become a force in the corporate world and a political power. That changed when the Presence saved his life in a fire. His friends rallied around him to try and regain the fun loving good guy but since Paul had felt the Presence he had gone all nutty about religion. As Paul tried to go about his life he felt driven to understand and find others that also felt the Presence. Paul finds himself connecting with people on a level beyond his past experience as he helps a classmate go to his sick mother, delivers medicine and comfort to an elderly woman, helps a young woman after the death of her brother, brings joy to a couple that have lost their only child. The forces that try to sever his connection to the Presence, his loyal friends with the help of a spoiled rich girl and the excellent job offer that would kill his soul, require him to make difficult choices.
