I couldn't wait to read and review this book. I adored Beautiful Disaster, Walking Disaster and a Beautiful Wedding. I loved Travis Maddox just like the rest of the women of the world. But if I am honest with myself, I thought some of the crazy things Abby and Travis did just didn't seem "real". Now, most of us would say, that we read fiction to escape the realities of the world. This is true and believe me, I enjoy the fantasties that all my favorite authors create especially Jamie McGuire.

Beautiful Oblivion was "real" to me. You ask what that means. It just means that Jamie McGuire wrote a story that wasn't filled with so much drama and angst. Instead, the relationship felt as if I would hear about the ins and outs over a glass of wine with my friends. It felt relatable and honest. A relationship that any of us could have been in.

I actually disagree with the official blurb. Beautiful Oblivion gives you a completely different love story from Beautiful Disaster and it is just as enjoyable. Most of us loved the small snippets we got of Trent in the other three books. You will adore him in this one. Trent seems grounded, trustworthy, fiercely loyal to those he loves but still has a good deal of the bad boy Maddox in his personality.

Trent's relationship with Cami develops slowly and it goes through bumps and bruises which to me mirrored what a normal relationship would go through in the beginning. I loved seeing Cami's feelings deepen for Trent over time and I thought it was brilliant of Jamie to give Cami a boyfriend (T.J) who she truly loved and care for but her relationship had hit a rough spot. The way that Cami and T.J. handle their relationship is exceptionally mature and I don't think you see this often in romance novels. The plot twist for this book (not giving away too much information in this review) wasn't surprising to me. I figured it out pretty early and I would have enjoyed a bit more drama in that particular part of the book but I think the less contention fit better with the overall story.

When I finished this book, I talked with my husband extensively about the story because I needed to voice my thoughts before I started my review. I was worried that it might come off as I didn't love this book as much as Beautiful Disaster. I can say in all honesty, I loved this book as much as Beautiful Diaster. I was worried that Jamie wouldn't be able to tell Trent's story without it sounding like a repeat of Travis's but hands down, she accomplished it. Different stories, different emotions, different brothers. It make me look forward to the rest of the Maddox brothers even more. Jamie McGuire, you suprised me with Trent and my expectations are even higher for the next Maddox brother book.

This is my first Jamie McGuire book and I must say, she has given me some really solid book boyfriends here with the Maddox boys. I really did fall in love with Trent. He was unpredictable, in a good way, and he made me swoon, on several occasions. This book had a lot of good stuff -- funny stuff, sad stuff, hot stuff, cute stuff -- lots of stuff, and it was pretty much all really good. I inhaled this book and the ending, I have no idea where that came from. Cami & Trent forever!

Beautiful Oblivion is the first in the Maddox Brothers series and the third book in the Beautiful series by Jamie McGuire. I have loved this series from the get-go and fell in love with Trenton Maddox. Beautiful Oblivion takes place during Abby and Travis Beautiful Disaster, and we catch glimpses of their world-wind relationship.

I will be totally honest and tell you from the get-go Cami made me absolutely friggin’ crazy, but I adored Trenton and by the end I had forgiven Cami and wanted them to find their happy. While fans of the series will recognize McGuire’s brand of turbulent, sweet, hot, and fierce romance I quite enjoyed the ride.

Trenton has seen tragedy, but like a true Maddox, he is loyal and puts family first. When he loves, it is the kind of love that makes your knees go weak as it pulls at your heartstrings. He is hotheaded like his brother but shows a lot more restraint. He is possessive at times and a little over protective, but he is also respected Cami and did not push her even if that is what he wanted.
Cami has had it rough as the only female sibling in her family. She is fiercely independent and in a long distance relationship when we first meet her. I was not sure how I was going to feel about that. Cheating is a huge no, no for me, but McGuire worked it out, and no real lines were crossed, although they were a little blurred. She has this big secret, and hints about it ruining everything. It made me crazy, and I guessed but you will have to put on your own detective badge and sort it out for yourself.

Cami and Trenton despite their differences together are this perfect balance of rightness, and I could not help but root for them. We get some hot sexy times, but we also get sweet, tender moments. McGuire gives us side characters with drama to care about and of course, now I want their stories. The big reveal, despite my guessing was pretty fricking’ twisted and McGuire pulled it off. I imagine many fans jaws dropped, and they went back to look for those not so subtle clues.

I loved how Beautiful Oblivion's timeline ran parallel to Beautiful Disaster, and it was neat tying Travis back to certain scenes and moments. Fans of the series will be delighted with this installment, and I cannot wait for Beautiful Redemption, the next Maddox story! The story is Thomas Maddox’s, the oldest brother. For the most part I really liked Beautiful Oblivion. It was fun and there was plenty of swoon! But there were a few things that I thought brought down the book:

1. Cami's brothers. WTF? Why did they side with their horrible, abusive father? What's wrong with them?

2. The "big reveal" at the end. Did anyone else read that and think, "so what?" Why was that some huuuuge secret that Cami was so bound to keep? I literally felt like I missed something. After all that build up, it was kind of a huge let down.

It pretty much was like re-reading Beautiful Disaster, only with a different clueless girl and another Maddox brother being pushed into the friend zone. Oh let’s not forget the clueless girl’s clueless roommate and her relationships as well. I wanted to punch both girls in the throat.

This book was pretty ‘meh’ for the first half of the book..and then it finally started getting interesting..though not really all THAT interesting. One of the few good things going for this book is that it starts out right before Travis meets Abby, so you get to see a little bit of that relationship developing from the outside but not too much. Cami has a secret and she doesn’t want Trenton to know because she thinks he’ll walk away from her when he finds out. Throughout this book I didn’t know what to expect when we finally learned of Cami’s secret and then at the end Jamie McGuire totally bitchslaps you in the face with something you didn’t even see coming. Seriously, I DID NOT SEE THAT COMING. So kudos to Jamie for giving us that totally unexpected ending.

So if you do want to experience the rush of reading Beautiful Disaster again, I definitely suggest you read this book. ;)

I will be honest after the way this book ended, I’m definitely going to be checking out the next book in the series to see what the hell is going on.

One last thing…I just realized the synopsis says that Cami is the baby sister to four rowdy brothers..That’s not true, SHE’S THE OLDEST OUT OF THEM ALL. How can she be the baby if she’s the oldest? Huh.

After months of putting it off, I finally read Beautiful Disaster – the novel that every New Adult fan raves about and I LOVED it! It was beautiful and hot and romantic and everything I love about New Adult, so I was super excited when Jamie McGuire announced she was writing books about the entire Maddox clan!!! Oh the joy! The excitement! More Maddoxes. Sigh. Awesome. Beautiful Oblivion is the first Maddox Brother story, and we get to meet Trent and Cami, who I am reliably informed do appear in BD! I couldn’t wait to get stuck in and I bloody loved it!

At first I was a bit discombobulated with Beautiful Oblivion – it’s not explicitly stated if Beautiful Oblivion is set before/after/at the same time as Beautiful Disaster so I was kinda confused early on when we saw Travis getting it on with someone who was NOT Abby! But it seems all the books in this series are, so far, set in the same time frame of Beautiful Disaster. Which is clever, actually, but confusing. Dates would have helped or clarification or something! Because ya know I was totes concerned for a mo about my fave couple!

Much like Abby and Travis, Cami and Trent have the same sort of friendship turned relationship and that’s always a hit with me – I think friends before becoming more is always a sure fire hit, although it was totes awkward on Cami’s behalf since she has a boyfriend, TJ! But ya know he travels a lot, is rarely in the same place as Cami and you just have to be available, especially when a tatted up gorgeous Maddox comes a-calling, with the sweeeeeeetest little girl in the world in a bid to get you to go out with him. Truth be told, Trent wouldn’t need a sweet little girl for me to say yes to him! ;)

McGuire knows how to build the best relationships – I love her romantic writing and her tension building, man can she make me desperate for kissing action! Jeez, you could cut the chemistry with a knife! But I liked the build up because the payoff is then always so much better! I dunno why, it just is! And with two characters like Cami and Trent you knew it was inevitable they’d fall in love and have babies and all that other mushy stuff, if they can get all the other stuff outta the way obvs.

There’s a big secret that sort of hangs over Cami and Trent, the mysterious TJ, which actually wasn’t all that mysterious and which I guessed because it wasn’t that bloody hard, and I could just see the two of then heading for a crash because Cami was too afraid to tell the truth. But I loved that Trent signed up for whatever it was without hearing it – that’s super sweet and sort of sums up Trent nicely. Yeah he’s a bad boy fighter all tatted up, but he’s sweet and he takes care of a little girl who can’t pronounce her r’s and lost her bro.

Beautiful Oblivion just made me feel all the feels. I loved Cami, I loved Trent, I loved seeing Abby and Travis’s relationship from another angle! I loved Cami’s BFF Reagan and I looooved seeing Cami go from non tattooed girl to tattooed girl! I adore my tattoo chicks, being one myself. There’s loads to love about this book and I loved it all. I can’t wait to meet the next Maddox bro, to he honest i’d take any if them no questions asked but Trent beats out his little bro for me. Just sayin’. I loved being back in the Maddox world again, and let’s hope I’ll get to go there again soon!
