It was pretty good, though there were definitely a few things that didn't sit with me.

This book falls victim to "I let out the breath I didn't know I was holding."

What kind of insult is, "What a vagina full of sand?"

But most notably, I just got sick of some of the silly arguing and lack of communication. And the fact that both of the characters wanted to be together but then refused to be together (ugh).

I still mostly enjoyed it though.

Jamie McGuire threw me at the end of Oblivion with the reveal of who TJ was, so I was double excited to read Redemption to see how this all played out. Thomas' story was tough because you knew he was beating himself up with guilt over loving the same girl as his brother while mourning the loss of her and be supportive of Trent's relationship with her. He put himself in a pretty shitty situation all while hiding his career and what he was doing to try and save Travis' ass. There were so many reasons to hate Thomas, but it was too damn hard not too.

I didn't think I was going to like Liis. She was too emotionally closed off and so focus on her career that she didn't see anything else around her. I like that Thomas ruffled her feathers, that Val, Marks and Sawyer forced their friendship on her, because she needed all of that. She needed Thomas to love her, truly love her, and she needed her friend to show how much they had her back...no matter what happened.

Thomas kept asking if she would be his punishment for the "crimes" against his brothers or would she be his redemption. The "she" in question is Liis, a new agent in Thomas' squad. She tough, spunky and emotionally unavailable. Looks a perfect match for our wounded Thomas, who is still recovering from his relationship with Cami, and losing her to his brother, Trent.

From page one, I only wanted the best for Thomas. He has always done so much for his brothers, even acting as their surrogate parent since he was 11 years old, and after he walked away from Cami, I wanted him to find his someone. This is his love story and it was very satisfying.

What did I like
1. The cast of characters. In addition to Thomas (swoon) and Liis, we also had several agents who supported the story (Sawyer, Val, and Marks). They really contributed a lot of humor to the story. In fact, this book seemed might more light hearted than the Beautiful books or the previous Maddox Brothers book. I laughed and smiled often. It was great.

2. The interaction with the family. It's always fun when all the brothers are together and their interactions in this story will not disappoint you. As always, the brothers bring the color, the flair and the fun, but most of all, you will feel the love the brothers have for each other.

3. The resolution. This book is interesting as it ends in the same place as Walking Disaster, but this time, we go home with Thomas and see where he is 10 years later. I love when McGuire does this. She fills in the gaps from another character's perspective, and I really appreciate the effort there.

I know I said this was more light hearted, but don't worry, JM brings the drama. In fact, there is SUPER BIG drama in the last 20 minutes of the book. I didn't see that coming.

Now for the bad part. There are only two brothers left. (sad face) Perhaps, Shep will get a story too (hint, hint).
