Ah, the end of this amazing series. I purchased this book as soon as I finished the previous book, Entrapment. Entrapment ended with a big cliffhanger and I just had to know what happened. I rarely read multiple books in the same series back to back, but there was no choice here. I can’t recommend that you have this final book ready to start as soon as you finish book four.
So, this story wraps up the story for Alex and Nox. I don’t want to go into details because each story builds on the previous story (which means read the series from start to finish, don’t jump around and plan to read entire series to get the full story and to the HEA). There is a ton of suspense about how Alex and Nox will get their happily ever after. What is to come of Brice and his mother and Alex’s step-father? Who will come out on top?
There is no question in my mind from the first book that Alex is willing to walk away from everything to not fall her her step-father’s trap, but he has ways of getting his way. As a powerful man in Savannah, he can get his way most of the time. But Alex is no weakling and she’s very smart. She will play along for a time to get what she wants as she plans how to get to her end-goal.
This series was quite the thrill ride. You never know what will get in Alex’s search for happiness. Every time you think she has everything figured out, her step-father finds an even worse idea. He is a desperate man, trying very hard to hold on to his power.
I can’t do this series justice without giving away too many details. Just know that if you like to read a series that is full of steamy scenes, suspense, family deception and power plays, this is a great series for you. This series follows the romance of Alex and Nox from start to finish. Both have very complex lives and family dynamics which seek to thwart their happiness.
I love that we also get an extended epilogue for this series. I think it was three chapters?? Anyway, after all the suspense and heartbreak that it took to get to this point, I was glad to have a little extra time with ending.
**note: I realize the title of the series and the titles for some of the books make it sound like there is cheating and coercion, but this does not exist between the main characters, Alex and Nox. I know that is a hard line for a lot of people and I don’t want people to avoid this series because of that reason. You have nothing to worry about there.
Narration
I don’t know what I can say about Samantha Prescott and Brian Pallino that I haven’t already said in previous reviews for this series. I thought they did really good job with narrations. They each had multiple POVs that they had to tackle. They did an amazing job with male and female voices. I love the pacing and tone. I would highly recommend either of them again.
