"This story sets a new bar in the genre . . . Exquisitely written, meticulously researched, tender, yet oh-so steamy--this is the Mary Poppins of Contemporary Romances: practically perfect in every way." -- Natasha Is A Book Junkie
Power. Passion. Betrayal.
Raised to rule, bred to lead and weaned on a diet of ruthless ambition.
In a world of haves and have nots, my family has it all, and I want nothing to do with it.
My path takes me far from home and paints me as the black sheep. At odds with my father, I'm determined to build my own empire. I have rules, but Lennix Hunter is the exception to every one of them. From the moment we meet, something sparks between us. But my family stole from hers and my father is the man she hates most. I lied to have her, and will do anything to keep her. Though she tries to hate me, too, the inexorable pull between us will not be denied.
And neither will I.

How sad is it, that I thought *why doesn't 'The Queen of Kings' sound as powerful as 'The King of Queens'? We have powerful Queens and women in powerful positions throughout our world, and yet, we are still conditioned to believe that men have more power. That's a wee bit sad...
The Kingmaker made me think about things like prejudice, inequality, injustice, bias and diversity. It also screamed at me that I have to start thinking more about our environmental issues. I'm in Australia and we've had some shocking fires recently that bring global warming to the front of our minds. Yet, we hop in our cars daily with little thought to the repercussions. Convenience is more important than our worlds longevity.
Anyways, I really enjoyed reading The Kingmaker. It's been a wee while since I've delved into a story like this and I liked the journey. This is not a romance where hearts overrule brains and leave you frustrated and shaking your head. This story is about setting yourself a path and not following the temptation of detours.
Yes, it did end on a cliffhanger but I could see it coming from a mile away. It made for a pleasant surprise that the cliffhanger didn't leave us suspended because of betrayal or heartbreak. I want to go on because I want this man to save his Queen.
The Kingmaker was fast-paced, exciting, thought-provoking and very sexy. The characters are interesting and I loved the connection between Nix and Max. I've already locked and loaded All the King's Men #2.
Romance Schmomance
I truly connected with Lennix about EVERYTHINGGGGGG that she's fighting for. I'm Native Hawaiian and well there's a lot of similarities about we're currently and constantly fighting for. And we'll never stop fighting for what's ours. I loved that Kennedy did it justice and all the research she took on about the Natives.

Oh my gosh! This book. This book is made of awesome. It's so good I want to go back to the beginning and start over again straight away. But I also want the next book right now. So it's a toss-up for sure.
Ryan said she got inspiration for this story from the TV show Scandal. And I can definitely see that. However, The Kingmaker is more like Scandal on steroids. Lennix is a strong woman in almost every sense of the world. She knows who she is. She knows where she's going. And she definitely knows how to get there.
Maxim is strong, too, mostly he's very strong-willed. He also knows who hie is and where he's going. But he also knows who he wants. And he's willing to wait for her to be completely ready for him.
There is political intrigue, native women who are fighting for their tribal rights, and there is a heart-wrenching romance, too. There is incredible female friendship, and I think the way Kimba and Lennix not only met and became friends, but how they also started working together show how women building each other up can make absolutely everything better.
I know I've said a lot. But I promise I haven't spoiled anything. Make sure you pre-order both The Kingmaker and The Rebel King right now. I am sure you will love this story as much as I did.
Lorelei's Lit Lair
I was riveted by this story from page one. Kennedy Ryan has written another passionate story in All The King’s Men duet.
It’s filled with drama, fierce attraction and passion, which I simply couldn’t put the book down, just falling in love with the characters as well as being drawn into the dramatic elements that unfold in the story.
Lennix is beautiful, brave, strong willed, a great friend and an amazing woman who will do anything to protect her own.
Maxxim is an attractive man, both physically and of character, ambitious though for his own ideals, which is different from his father’s. When Maxxim falls in love, it’s forever when it has to do with Lennix. Their passion leaps from the pages and will have you rooting for them to resolve their differences while pursuing their dreams.
The Kingmaker has it all. Passion, drama, intrigue, family conflicts, friendships, heart gripping moments and a happy ending. I simply cannot wait for the next book to release and see how the King’s Men duet concludes.
