Initial thought: For a book on decluttering, Year of No Clutter contains a fair bit of its own clutter. Maybe that's the nature of a memoir (I've read too few to compare) but some parts that detracted from the main purpose of the book contained so much detail, the book felt like it was winding and longer than it needed to be. That aside, it was interesting to hear of Schaub's journey. While I can't relate to that level of hoarding, it was interesting to hear of her take on clutter. What especially got me was the extent to which we equate memories, love, etc with objects when they're not the same thing. That's what makes it so difficult to let go of items we didn't even need or like much in the first place.
