I liked Alice. She was witty and her voice was definitely real. Her best friend, Jewel (technically Julian), was cool too. I enjoyed reading about the dynamics of their friendship. What put me off though was the way the plot evolved. It was as though there was constant jump cutting. Parts which were essential to ensuring things didn't happen too abruptly were missing. Pity. Had these gaps been filled, I might've loved the book just for Alice alone because I felt I got to know who she was as a person.
