Initial thoughts: I'm not quite sure why The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up needed a sequel, except to profit from its popularity. Spark Joy offered little new information vis-à-vis the previous book. Since this one's pitched as an illustrated guide, I expected a greater focus on the visuals to support Kondō's methods. Instead, the book offers a summary of what's already been covered, while the illustrations were cute doodles to add only a little bit of clarity. No visual step-by-step guide to be found in Spark Joy. At least the focus was comparatively more on getting things done and less on anecdotes, even if they constituted about a third of the book.
