The story itself was cute. I did think Emma was dense and very thick headed. I mean, at any point she could have told Deke that Sammi Jo wasn’t hers. He told her straight up how he felt about people who withheld the truth, and she still didn’t say anything, which made me smack my head at one point in the story.
I loved that the author made everyone out to sound like they are from Texas. I could almost hear the drawl coming from them, and with her wording, it was like they were right in bed with me. Well, not exactly in bed but you know what I mean.
I liked the fact that it was a clean, no sex, romance. Some kissing, yes. But none of the other stuff.
I did question about what decade this book took place. It came across as the late 60’s/early ’70s to me. There was no usage of the Internet or cell phones, so that might have piqued my interest. I also wonder if Sammi Jo is going to have a follow-up romance novel? Inquiring minds want to know!!!
Will I reread this book, and will I recommend it to friends? Change the cover and I definitely will recommend it. I would recommend it even with the cover.
