Broken Hearts & Zombie Parts

by William Hussey

"I loved this brave, hilarious, impossibly tender book with my whole zombie heart." Becky Albertalli, author of Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda

"Blisteringly funny, joyous and smart, with such a big, beautiful heart." Simon James Green, author of Gay Club!

A Big Gay Rom-Zom-Com with Heart: Sex Education meets Love, Simon - with fake zombies - in this savagely funny gay YA romance about body image, self-acceptance and falling in love.

Jesse Spark has a broken heart and in a few short weeks he'll require major surgery to repair it - which means he only has a month to accomplish two almost-impossible tasks.

1) Shoot his epic zombie movie on a shoestring budget if he has any hope of getting into film school.
2) Fall in love before this surgery lands him with a huge scar - because how will anyone ever fancy him after that?

Yeah, these are "This is a good book" 5 stars.

I'm not going to belittle a good book, because, being completely honest, I have no notes. Who would've thought I'd grab this book physically by chance in a Fnac and end up giving it 5 stars - incredible! Either way, I sized this book up pretty quickly - aka, I realized where the story was going, yet I was still surprised with some developments.

Probably because the issues portrayed in this book are relatable to me, I teared up quite a bit of times. I was full on sobbing, and I read this right before sleeping, stayed up after midnight to finish it. It was very climatic, in my opinion.

It's hard to do a slow burn like this - it doesn't feel like the romance is developing out of the page, rather it's developed almost like a little mystery. I've grown to not stand books that seemingly take no time into developing a relationship and play it up with theatrics by the climax.

This is a new favorite! Check it out.
