Lumberjanes Vol. 3 by Shannon Watters, Noelle Stevenson, Grace Ellis, Brooke A. Allen

Lumberjanes Vol. 3 (Lumberjanes, #3)

by Shannon Watters, Noelle Stevenson, Grace Ellis, and Brooke A. Allen

This New York Times Bestselling series continues with Jo, April, Mal, Molly, and Ripley as they take on everything that goes bump in the night. From scary stories to magical portals that lead to a land untouched by time, it's definitely not your average summer. Written by awesome all-star Noelle Stevenson (Nimona, ADVENTURE TIME™) and brilliant newcomer Grace Ellis, and illustrated by the tremendously talented Brooke Allen (A Home for Mr. Easter).

Note: I read issues #9–12 separately but didn't want them to count individually towards my Goodreads reading challenge, so I chose to shelve Vol. 3, the equivalent compilation.

Actual rating: 2.5 stars
Initial thoughts: I'm pretty irked by the change in the changed styles of art. From #8 to #9 and #10, they each had a different illustrator and it was very evident at first glance. Vol. 1 & 2 were consistent and then, Bam! Sudden shift. I find that added a big disconnect for me to the characters.

Plot-wise, #9 slowed down again over #8 and was more of a filler. By the end of #10 there finally was a twist I was waiting for. Vol. 3 ends on a cliffhanger but somehow, I'm not holding my breath. Will continue reading if Scribd or one of my libraries carries the sequels. Otherwise, nope, not buying. I mostly stuck it out because Noelle Stevenson's name is on the the cover, so I kept hoping I'd take greater overall liking to the Lumberjanes series. It's still good fun but t could be more.
