While helping to prepare a surprise shower, Amelia Bedelia and her cousin make some arrangements that are not quite what the guests expected.
We are fast coming to like the more and more early reader stories we're finding with Amelia Bedelia. "High-interest stories for developing readers." [b:Amelia Bedelia and the Surprise Shower|155106|Amelia Bedelia and the Surprise Shower|Peggy Parish|http://d.gr-assets.com/books/1347266336s/155106.jpg|1096604] is interesting an includes a family member of hers that I had not met before. Here Amelia Bedelia and Cousin Alcolu help to prepare a garden wedding shower and both are of the same typical Amelia Bedelia literalism. It's one that makes you cringe and grin all at the same time. The illustrations in this one are by [a:Barbara Siebel Thomas|2803534|Barbara Siebel Thomas|http://www.goodreads.com/assets/nophoto/nophoto-U-50x66-251a730d696018971ef4a443cdeaae05.jpg] and I believe they might be my favorite version of Amelia Bedelia next to [a:Fritz Siebel|463004|Fritz Siebel|http://www.goodreads.com/assets/nophoto/nophoto-U-50x66-251a730d696018971ef4a443cdeaae05.jpg].
