The techniques illustrated in the following styles will provide an essential guide to anyone designing and making clothes from stretch fabrics. The twelve styles in this book have been selected because they illustrate really important pattern making principles and can be used to develop almost any current fashion style This book also defines an organised approach co analysing stretch fabrics and could be used in conjunction with Chart 10: the Full Body Stretch Block from the Shoben Fashion Media range of multi sized block patterns which will undoubtedly simplify and provide an easy starting point to all your styling projects.

Book 2

This is the second book in the Essential Pattern Cutting series and covers a whole range of clothing from weather wear to hoodies and smart casual wear. It is aimed at all skill levels and thus the diagrams are clear and uncomplicated. Also included are guidelines on design interpretation - a skill which is often neglected in other pattern cutting books. As in previous guides, the following styles are based on the series of Shoben Fashion Media block pattern charts.

This guide uses Chart 6: Men's/Women's Casual Block Patterns, and indeed most of the illustrated styles can be worn by men or women. Note that all measurements stated can only be approximate as they will depend on the selected starting pattern size. Also note that most of the illustrated styles and pattern cutting techniques can also be applied to children's casual blocks - charts 7b/8b/9b. Styles have been selected not only for their style value but also to include essential pattern cutting techniques and features.

Book 3

This is the third book in the Essential Pattern Cutting Series written to accompany Chart 1: Women's Dress Block. Chart 1, along with all the other Shoben Fashion Media Charts are widely used in the Fashion Industry, Universities and Colleges to achieve that all important standard fit, so essential for a professional garment collection.
This guide is aimed at all levels of pattern cutting expertise and provides ideas and techniques on styling and general pattern cutting approach. In particular the notes on block construction and figuration will be very useful for those who want to delve deeper into the subject.
