I adored book one in this series, so you can imagine how very excited I was to get my hands on book two. Especially with that epic cliffhanger! And while I did very much enjoy this one, it wasn't quite as good at book one for me. I am chalking that up to the fact that the main couple spends VERY little actual time together in this one. I found that a bit disappointing, to be honest. I am hoping book three is different in that regard, but after this second cliffhanger, I am a little worried...
The above issue aside, I still thought this was an excellent read. The writing was fantastic. It was well paced. The plot kept me on the edge of my seat. It was quite a violent book (I'll admit I did get a little tired of Sophia being beaten up over and over again). There was a blip of (pointless) OW drama. If you have read book one then you know there is OM drama in the form of the "baddie." As I mentioned, this couple doesn't spend very much time together (maybe 48 hours) until very late in the book. That said, we still get some smokin' hot sex scenes. This installment also brings in some new (and intriguing) secondary characters, and I can't wait to see how everything plays out in regards to them. Both Sophia and Creed remain solid and likable main characters. I am a HUGE fan of anti-heroes, and I loved seeing Creed's darker side come into play. Last, it wraps up in yet another cliffhanger that made me groan a little. I hope we are not going to have a repeat of events that are similar to what took place in this book...that is all I will say about that.
That is about all there is to say. I had a couple of small issues that lowered my rating a smidge, but I am still super excited to get my hands on book three. February can't come soon enough!
