This was a great short story and a perfect addition to the Elder Races series. It have a chance to spend time with Grace and Khalil again, and Olivia, Sebastian and Sabatian's crew are a great addition to the cast of characters.

In this story, Carling sends a crew back to the island in the Other land where she had been exiled in order to collection of magical books which she has been collecting since she was turned into a vampire in the time of ancient Egypt. Some of her collection includes papyrus scrolls.

I do think that just like in Carling's book, this library is underused as a story line. Magical books, both light and dark magic, which literally call out to you to open them and peek inside. And there is no peeking, even at the persuasive dark magic books. Magic books needs to be opened and cause havoc.

At only about 100 pages, it was a great in between filler book which I popped out in just a few hours.
