Tracey Anne Warren’s first novel in the Graysons series The Last Man on Earth provided wicked banter and a hate to lovers relationship that had me giggling and sighing. From corporate offices to romantic inns I was swept up in this love affair. Mini review: Strong, likeable characters, sizzling romance and growth made this a memorable tale.

In a fast paced PR firm in New York City we meet Madelyn Grayson, who at almost thirty has become a successful ad executive and is working her way up the corporate ladder. Her main competition is fellow employee Zack Douglas and he makes her crazy. He is a ruthless businessmen and classic bad boy who also happens to be drop dead gorgeous. As these two exchange one-line zingers and compete for high profile campaigns the air sizzles. These two quickly discover that the heat they share can lead to hot passion in the bedroom.

Warren introduced two strong, successful characters who were flawed in the relationship department. Madelyn has put her career first and slipped into an easy relationship with her lifelong friend. When he proposes, she turns him down because shouldn’t kisses bring heat and curl your toes or is that just in fairy tales? She is feeling pressure from her meddling family, and her attraction to Zack complicates things. I liked Madelyn, and while I didn’t always approve of her actions I felt strongly for her. Zack from outward appearances has it all. After all, he has a fancy car, a successful career and a woman on each arm. Zack has a reputation for being a bad boy, and he does nothing to quell the office rumor mill. I really liked Zack, underneath his confident exterior there is this sweet, vulnerable and flawed man. He has abandonment issues, and I loved seeing him grow and overcome.

The Last Man on Earth was a hilarious, sweet and sizzling hot romance with characters that kept me engaged. Warren paced the tale well, with just enough angst to keep me searching for my happily ever after. Her characters were realistic, flawed and truly likable. She peeled back their layers and then allowed them to grow. Madelyn was strong and wasn’t afraid to demand what she deserved, and I liked that about her. I struggled with the decision she made, but even as I disagreed, I understood her actions. Thankfully she rectifies her mistakes. The chemistry between Zack and Madelyn was red hot and passionate. I loved their conversations, his nickname for her. I became invested in their relationship even when I wanted to throttle them. Warren introduced side characters who interested me, and I enjoyed the little side stories. The tale wrapped up nicely, and I look forward to the next book in this series.
