I'm tapping out early on this one.

No rating as I did not finish...and I'm guilty of being too Judgy McJudgerson.

I could easily write it off as I'm over erotica. In this case, I think it was the setup that had me tapping out. I admit I didn't stay long enough to see how it would all play out and if the author was able to make me believe in this couple. The problem is this...if my first "meeting" of the hero shows him as fickle as a pickle, flighty and controlled by his other brain, how can I believe he's a safe bet? If a hero is happy to settle for a marital match to someone he doesn't love because his mother wants the family connection, how can I believe he won't be swayed later? Now, this is the biggie. If a hero brings in another male and he mucks around with the male, how can I believe that their relationship will be enough, just the two of them?

That last one is the main reason I struggle with threesomes whatever combo. I have read other books where a third is brought in to "play" but a connection is never formed (with the third) in those relationships. It was more about "playing" than "needing" a third. I think, in the books I've read and enjoyed, it was more about the attention the heroine receives.

I can't say that either character appealed to me in Tapped which made it easier to give up earlier rather than later. I found the class distinction too "in my face". Their outfits are discussed as if this is a true way of telling whether someone has money or not. A very poor person can save up all their money for one flashy item. A very rich person may shop at Target because their clothes fit better. Just my opinion, money certainly doesn't buy you taste. I also found her rant at her boss about babysitting the hero was unprofessional, for both her and her boss.

Look, I'm probably being too Judgy McJudgerson considering I paid $1.00 for it and didn't give the author a chance to prove herself. But, first impressions count. I've found it somewhat therapeutic to get my thoughts down on why erotica doesn't seem to be working for me anymore. I'm still not sure why they don't work. Maybe, it's because contemporary romance is getting hotter and I don't need it to be "erotic" to get my heart pumping anymore.

Maybe a bit more research is needed...?
