One-Punch Man, Vol. 1 (One-Punch Man, #1)

Nothing about Saitama passes the eyeball test when it comes to superheroes, from his lifeless expression to his bald head to his unimpressive physique. However, this average-looking guy has a not-so-average problem - he just can't seem to find an opponent strong enough to take on! Every time a promising villain appears, he beats the snot out of 'em with one punch! Can Saitama finally find an opponent who can go toe-to-toe with him and give his life some meaning? Or is he doomed to a life of superpowered boredom?

I’ve already watched all there is of the anime, but I wanted to give the manga a try. And I’m so glad I did! While the anime follows the manga fairly faithfully, there are differences to be found. And honestly? I just love the way motion is portrayed in this series. It’s not quite like anything else I’ve read, which is cool.
The series starts off with a bit more of a ‘freak of the week’ feeling. And by that I basically mean that there are a bunch of short stories and events running together. But you can already see it starting to blend into plots that’ll feed into one another. And that’s where this series shines (in the anime at least, I can’t speak for the manga – yet).
