First off…WOW just WOW! This book! I know I do not have the words to express how this book is just awesome! Just being frank about it here.

The story flows and with Mr Ryan’s background it is so realistic! The conversations between the characters were brilliant, because you feel like you are in the room, car, building with them watching the banter happening. The conversations are ordinary and everyday ones in a workplace when they weren’t on the road tracking down the ever elusive Chelsea Hendricks.

I love this team! Mike, Sal, Julia and Hoagie, they are all holding a special place in my heart. They have each other backs they are a unit, they are a family. The bond they have is unbreakable, even for Mike and Sal as Sal winds him up something chronic with his Sunflower seeds.

Some of this book reminded me of the TV show, Blue Bloods, when Mike and Sal sat down for dinner with Mike’s family on a Sunday. The Irish tradition of Mike’s mother. This was a touching scene to read, and it reinforced the normality for me and added to the authenticity, whilst the team are hot on the trails of the prostitution ring that is on the move.

For me, I found this an easy read as I was instantly sucked into Mike and Sal’s world. I just wish I could have stayed longer than a couple of days because that is how long this book is. It tells the story over 2 days and it is intense. Things escalate so quickly, making all your emotions heightened and leaves you feeling vulnerable and exposed near the end as if you were the one running around with the team. It is shocking and packs a punch and I enjoyed every single word that had been written.

I had a few emotions when reading this, I was laughing out loud, I was screaming at the characters and I also had that leaky water issue with my eyes again! I have to swiftly follow up this book with the sequel The Funeral. I have had it on good authority that it is going to be a crying one. (Unfortunately, I cannot tell you my source because I cannot ruin his street cred, you know who you are lol)

My only regret with this book is that I did not get to it sooner when Mr Ryan contacted me to read it. I wish I devoured it straight away and I will not be making that mistake again with his books! Like I say roll on “The Funeral”.

My final say is I love this book, I love the writing, I love the style and I love the authentic story we told and I have not even mentioned this is a debut!. Let me say it again WOW.
