Rescuing Kassie is the book I have been waiting for because Stoker has given us lots of little teasers! Kassie's abusive ex, Jacks, is well known to the team for kidnapping Emily and Annie. However, even from prison, he is still trying to torment the Delta Force team he blames for everything. He threatens his ex into doing whatever he says in order to get revenge. I was glad that Kassie comes clean to Hollywood very early. I was afraid the story would center around her keeping the secret and him eventually finding out after they had been together for awhile. That isn't the route Stoker takes and I am glad for it.
Kassie continues to be threatened by Jacks' friend, Dean. She has to feed him intel about the Delta Force team or else he will kidnap her sister. Kassie struggles to really believe in the attraction between Hollywood and herself based on the fact it all started as a lie. She can't understand how he can trust her so quickly. Honestly, her doubt actually was the most believable part for me. You all know I don't mind insta-love at all. But, I do get annoyed with the constant flowery professions of undying love on every page. Hollywood loves a good speech. While I get that he does this to convince Kassie he is for real, I found myself rolling my eyes a few times because it was just too much for me.
Props to Stoker for using some kickass words: douchecanoe (you all know this is my favorite), douchenugget, and buttmunch (seriously-why don't people use this more?!?). I also loved getting more of Annie, who is always a hoot. While sometimes the plot felt slow because of Hollywoods monologues of love, overall the story was great. I liked the reintroduction of Jacks as a plot device and Kassie was a great heroine. It was easy to see why she initially fell for Jacks and that helped make her such a relatable character.
Revenge, blackmail, and true love abound in Rescuing Kassie! Susan Stoker never fails to make me swoon for her hot military men!

Brighter than the Sun by Maya Banks, Out of the Ashes by RC Boldt, The Enforcer by Helenkay Dimon...then you will probably like Rescuing Kassie!
