The only reason I’m giving this a four star rating instead of a five star is because I’m not sure that I love how it ended. I think I need a bit more time to sit on that part.
First things first: love the cover. I’m not sure if I’m accurate in assuming this, but it looks like a hat tip to the Rocky Horror Picture Show. At least, I hope it is. It’d be a nice touch. And it would explain some of the style changes we’re seeing (though another explanation is given at the big reveal at the end).
This was another intense issue to read, but it was wonderfully written. I feel like they’ve really perfected the pacing for Batman here. We had plenty of time to understand the depth of what was going on, but it never felt like it was dragging either.
It feels like it’s been forever between the first issue/book and the second. I hope that won’t be the case for the third issue, because I’m really anxious to see what happens next.
