While I really enjoyed the first book of this series, Midnight in Montmartre, this book was a little bit of a disappointment, but I did like the story.

I didn't feel much connection between Mathieu and Violette to explain why he wanted to date her in the first place. There were also some details that were gone into that while I was reading, because so much time was spent on the details I kept expecting them to be relevant further on in the story, but that never ended up being the case. An example of that was in the beginning of the book when Mathieu has come in from the rain and is getting ready to take a bath. There was too much time describing the process, and it just wasn't relevant or interesting.

I did enjoy the way Mathieu was so sweet to Violette and their relationship once it was getting established. And my heart went out to Violette for her lonely life caring for her mother.
