I heard about this couple in a Facebook group I was in. They sang their praises so I was like why not read them. I ordered the book from the library and proceeded to read.
At first, I was like these people are even kookier than Eckhart Tolle. Like Tolle they drew me in as long as I ignored the whole “Abraham” thing. See, Abraham is this group of nonphysical beings that give them  what they want basically. My fundamentalist, Christian upbringing, has me wondering on which side of good and evil “Abraham” really is on. So I just decided to ignore that fact and focus on the message.
The underlying message is that you can basically have anything you want and feel great if you know all about how to do it. I feel pretty good about life in general so I was about to put the book down but decided to read on.
So a little background the woman Esther Hicks somehow talks to the nonphysical entity “Abraham” and get instructions on how to live life. Okkkkk kooky town. She asks him all sorts of stuff and lo and behold stuff starts showing up in her life. Ok.. It had my attention now. I have pretty much everything I want in my life but my condo on an island. So with that in mind, I read on. I REALLY wanted to find out how to get my damn condo.
I learned that I had to be in the right “vibrational” energy. Apparently I was a few energies below condo on a tropical island vibrations. How to up my vibrational energies?
She goes into detail on the theory which I guess some people like. I found it boring and such. Like how if you are depressed, then shit will happen to you. I thought about this long and hard and decided it must be true. I have some friends stuck in the throes of depression and well..nothing good has happened to them in a while. There are different levels of vibrational energies which is described in the book. I took the quiz and was surprised to find myself three levels out of like 16 from the top! Yes, I am one happy woman. Maybe that's why good stuff keeps happening to me? I dunno. I do know I am sensitive to bad vibes. I try and avoid those people like the plague.
There were detailed instructions on how to raise your vibrational energies in the last part of the book. I was shocked at how practical the instructions were. They were so practical I ordered me a copy from Amazon so I could refer back to them. Things like imagine you have a box and you put what you want in the box in your mind and you focus on them. So I have been putting my dream condo on the beach and great weather and endless supplies of drinks and enough writing ideas to last me to eternity in my head. I even have made pins on them on pin interest and I am making me a vision board.
Will it work? Who knows? I do know the other day after eating another rejection I was feeling discouraged and I used some of the tips in the book and felt better. So there is some practical advice among all the kookiness in the book.
Overall I liked this book enough to buy me a copy. My fundamentalist mother was horrified when I told her about it saying it was demonic forces. So if you are really and truly religious, you may want to skip this book. Otherwise, ignore the kookiness and try the practical suggestions and you will, at least, feel better about things as a whole. This review was originally posted on Adventures in Never Never Land
