Blind Beauty by K M Peyton

Blind Beauty

by K M Peyton

Every once in a while a great race horse is born that will win many races and become famous throughout the land. This book is about such a horse. Buffoon is born to Declan's blind mare, Shiner. The threat of shadowy cataracts and failing sight hangs over him and his career. His name is not bestowed ironically, for even as a foal he is raw-boned, awkward and usgly. All the outward signs are that this is not a horse with the star of glory in his future, but outward appearances can be deceptive. Tessa is no angel. She is wilful, rude, poisonous, sullen, uncooperative and on occasion even violent. Perhaps she has cause to be, for her background is broken and messy. Buffoon is specieal. They were bonded, girl and horse by Shiner, before Tessa's life went bad.

I read this book when I was younger and smack in the center of my obsessed with horses phase. It really resonated with me and I remember enjoying it very much. Thinking about it now and remembering all that's in it, I may have been a little young for the content, but I was for quite a lot of the books I read at that age. This book is due for a reread and I can't wait.
