I simply loved Focus on Love! It is such a lovely story of faith, love and learning the incredible love that God has for us.

Liz’s dad was a very hard man who wielded his religion as a whip to drive those around him to obedience. His interpretation allowed for rules and more rules and no grace or kindness or mercy. When Liz felt that she couldn’t obey him, he kicked her out of their house (on Christmas day, nonetheless) and out of his life.

Needless to say, Liz had a very skewed view of God and didn’t know anything about His love. Enter Dani, her dear friend from Dance Over Me, and Ryan, the photographer who captures beautiful images and also captures her heart. Through the influence of these two, she begins to see that God takes delight in her and rejoices over her with singing (Zephaniah 3:17 – the theme verse of the book.)

Ryan, as you can see below in the post from the author, is a man who loves God and has sacrificially given himself to help his sister when her husband has been deployed to Afghanistan. He exhibits such Godly traits and you can’t help but admire him.

With a photography theme of the story, I was so impressed with the knowledge of photography and the business of photography that the author showed. From lighting to things to look at when shooting to how to shoot an event or a wedding to post-processing pictures, the details were great (I have done photography professionally to a small degree, so I am aware of these details and the accuracy). The information was not force-fed, it came naturally through the story and enhanced it tremendously.
