Miles Morales: Spider-Man (Marvel YA Novel)

I wanted to like this more than I did.

I was excited to get to know Miles, who I've seen in my Ms Marvel comics. Seeing his family and school dynamics was nice but the story arc was underwhelming. I wanted more of a superhero story and not such blatant social commentary. I mean the bad guy was literally institutionalized racism. That is something important to talk about, but I felt it was too heavy handed and not natural as far as storytelling.
