King by T. M. Frazier

King (King, #1)

by T. M. Frazier

Homeless. Hungry. Desperate.

Doe has no memories of who she is or where she comes from.

A notorious career criminal just released from prison, King is someone you don't want to cross unless you're prepared to pay him back in blood, sweat, sex or a combination of all three.

King's future hangs in the balance. Doe's is written in her past. When they come crashing together, they will have to learn that sometimes in order to hold on, you have to first let go.

I honestly only picked this book up because I saw a promo of Preppy, another of T.M. Frazier's books, and I realized I need to read this one before I could get to Preppy. HOLY CRAP! I am so very glad I read this book and I now plan to read this entire series. This book was amazing and held nothing back. It has triggers in it and nothing is sugar coated. I absolutely love how raw this book was and it totally tore out my heart. I felt for both King and Doe and loved every minute of their time together and the interactions with Bear and Preppy.

The story is heartbreaking but you are so hoping for the best or both of these characters. It's told in both POVs. Some of what happens is intense and for some, might be uncomfortable, but I think it was handled nicely. I want to go into all the details with this book but so much happens and a few surprises that I was not expecting at all. I didn't see what happens close to the end happening and I was sort of floored and need to put the book down for a bit to recover. I loved these characters and was really eager to read the next one as soon as I was finished.

Preppy might honestly be my favorite however he is a bit disturbing but funny, you can't help but fall in love with him too. King is hard but has a soft side when it comes to Doe and Preppy. He is a complete ass but you sort of catch him when he is going through a bit of a change. Doe is a mystery but I actually really liked her, she didn't annoy me at all. I felt so bad for her losing her memory and can't wait to see what happens next because OMG, that ending!

Overall this is an awesome read, such in-depth characters and a hard story. It broke my heart and I am hoping book #2 will put it back together. I can't recommend this book enough. I marked it on goodreads as 4 but it's totally worth the 4.5 gave it here. Please note this books does have some very hard triggers and lots of drug use but totally worth reading.

Thanks for stopping by to check out my review.

Have a great day and Happy Reading!
