This book has been on my radar for a long time. It is no secret that I’m a huge fan of Eve Langlais. I’m also a huge fan of hilarious paranormal romance with shifters of exotic shifters. What I mean by exotic shifters, is the non-standard. The wolf and cat shifters are a dime a dozen these days. Bears are growing a lot too. But I love authors who choose different animals for their shifters and then use those animal traits to their advantage. Eve Langlais does a great job with that in this book with Miranda, our heroine and bunny. There are several other shifter breeds in this book as side characters including a giraffe, swan and crocodile (some of which are in future books, woohoo!!).
Miranda is a bunny and she is also a bubbly blonde who plays the “dumb blonde” card to a tee. Don’t let her fool you though, she isn’t stupid by any shape of the imagination. She is a FUC agent (yes, that is how it is pronounced). There is even mention that the agency was originally, Furry United Coalition and Defense, but people thought FUCD was too vulgar. Miranda may look like a girly-girl, but she knows what she is doing. She is a good agent, she is just using her looks to make people underestimate her.
Chase is a gruff grizzly bear. He is also a probate lawyer. He likes his sleep, sixteen hours on the weekend. He doesn’t like to share his food. He likes things nice and stable. He was able about order and not having things disrupt his life. That is until a bouncing bunny moves in next door.
Chase is on a list of males that are potential kidnap victims. So FUC sends Miranda to move in next to him to help prevent the kidnapping. There is a group kidnapping predator males in their prime for experiments. FUC wants to use the list as bait, but doesn’t want to tell the marks.
This story is very silly, but fun. If you are looking for a more serious PNR with tons of suspense and action, this is probably not the book for you. Yes, there is action and suspense, but the suspense is pretty easy to figure out. This is a story if you are looking for a quick and funny read, which I love to balance out some of the many dark stories that I read.
Narration
This is the first audiobook that I’ve listened to that was narrated by Abby Craden. She really nailed Miranda’s voice in my head. She got that bubbly, always happy voice down pat. Chase’s voice was good too, you could really feel the gruffness in it. He always sounded so grumpy. All the voices were distinct and the tones were well done. I’m excited to listen to her finish off this series.
I like to thank Audible Studios for providing me with a copy of this audiobook in exchange for an honest review.
