I wasn't sure what we were going to get in this spin-off Wicked Horse series...especially considering it was in Vegas.

Jericho Jameson was a hard man to get a read on. He was ex-military, owned a very successful private security firm and ran the Wicked Horse Vegas. He loved his life and the freedom to do what he wanted...in his club and outside it, and could be ruthless when he needed to be. And when he meets Trista Barnes, that ruthlessness comes out, and made it very hard to like him. I get wanting revenge, but to use Trista in the way he was just felt wrong. And made me question everything he said he felt, because we knew he was still going through with his plan.

I liked Trista and I could appreciate her wanting to explore what she saw while working at the club. I could even understand, under different circumstances, exploring some of that with her boss. But I found myself at a loss as to why she would go down that path with someone who she was working off a debt to. That money seemed to loom over my head more than it did hers. It cheapened everything to me and made it hard to believe a woman who was lying to her mother about where she was really working wouldn't question what she was doing more.

The book was enjoyable and if you like your romance books hot, the sex was off the hook. If nothing else, Jericho knew how to wring the pleasure out of his partners. But I needed a little more groveling on the part of Jericho to make things right with Trista and truly believe their HEA was going to stick.
